Schlepping this whole thing around

Car-toppablility was high on my list of requirements for this boat. Standard roof rack bars don't cut it for this thing, so I made some extenders out of wood. Basically they're 2x2"s with bits of plywood screwed and glued to the sides, and bolts that fit through holes to pin the wood bars onto the roof rack bars. This makes the roof rack width seven feet. Plenty wide enough, but not wider than the eight foot legal limit for vehicle width.

A view from the front. Doesn't seem to affect driving the truck much.

And from the side. Definitely need a red flag on the 22 foot mast.

And the back. I haven't figured out an elegant solution for the sail bag that also contains the nine foot boom. Then again, maybe I haven't figured out an elegant solution for any of this.

Don't let your children drive before they're legally able to.
