Liberty Bay is a fairly well protected body of water off of Puget sound. Poulsbo, WA (where I live) lies on its northeast edge, near its headwaters of Dogfish creek. We've sailed the trimaran quite a few times there, launching from Oyster Plant Park. The park sits between two marinas. Parking is close to the water which makes for a short walk when schlepping all this stuff to the water. Wind usually comes from the north on a nice day, and from the south on a not so nice day. The pictures below show us rigging and then launching into a light northerly. The crew for the day include the Gallant boys and neighbor Eric Frei. We usually sail up near the head of the bay, through the marinas and over to the other side of the bay. Recently we sailed down to Keyport and back on a nice day with lots of other boat traffic. Hitting motorboat wakes at speed is pretty fun on this boat. It's certainly a head turner at the marinas.
Rigging the sail onto the mast.
Boys sitting on the stern, keeping the boat from sailing off while I don my PFD.
The boys, anxious to launch.
Pointing the boat upwind just before launch. A bystander observing. The first time I launched here, the crowd that gathered to watch applauded when we took off.
Last aboard.
And away.
A boy on each ama, and Evan near the bow.
Sheeted in and out we go.
