Driving south

On my way to Baja now, camped at a rest area just north of Yreka, CA at the nicest, quietest rest area ever. Wanted to get over the Siskiyou mountains today since the weather in S OR and N CA has been frightful lately. Not for me so far, but tomorrow's forecast for Redding, CA shows snow. The van is doing well. New tires, fresh oil change, water and propane tanks topped off. Now stocked with plenty of food and booze. Having scotch at cocktail hour now.

Stopped at Beacock's music in Vancouver, WA. They have 3 locations, but I found a solid spruce top concert sized uke I liked a lot there and bought it. Amazing selections of ukes, really fun to try them all before buying. Love this thing. Will only go to central CA tomorrow. Then the next day to Bakersfield to meet up with friend Dave to caravan further south. Will spend the night before the border crossing at the Salton Sea. I want to see the Red Volcano, the mud pots (boiling mud), and the ruins of Bombay Beach while there. Dave and I will have dinner at one of the Basque restaurants in Bakersfield. I actually brought my Basque beret for the occasion.

Picking out my new concert sized, spruce top uke at Beacock's in Vancouver, WA.
