So we rode up to Logan Pass at the top of the Going to the Sun Highway. Due to COVID restrictions, the road east of the pass was closed. I read about day hikes in Glacier, and this seemed to be a good one. We hiked about 3.5 miles north on the Highline Trail, had lunch then returned. I hiked in my leather motorcycle pants and boots. Was OK at first, but hot and heavy by the end. Shorts next time.
Paul ready to go. The parking lot was a scene where we could barely find parking for our bikes. Plenty of people on the trail, but that's OK.
Heading north from the trailhead.
John and Paul.
Looking back south.
Where we're going.
Dramatic drop offs next to the trail at the beginning.
John hugging the rock wall.
So this goat just walked right up to us, paused, and then scampered up the cliff above us. Apparently it's used to people.
Heading up above us.
A magnificent animal.
He didn't yodel though.
More scary trail sections. Note the cable you can hang on to.
Don't go there.
A rodent. Not a marmot though.
Pretty spectacular stuff up there.
Austin with his yellow, waterproof backpack.
Austing photographing.
Zoom in and you'll see a small rodent.
We gave him a carrot. Don't tell the rangers.
Our lunch break spot. My motorcycle boots in the foreground.
Paul capturing the moment.
Paul on the way back.
Relaxing at Packer's Roost after the hike. Highly recommended!
Nice waitress with a cleverly cut tshirt.
Indian fry bread for breakfast the next day. Mmmmmm.
