To the rally

It's a long way from Poulsbo, WA to Fossil, OR. Google maps estimates 349 miles if you take I-5 and I-84. I only did a few miles on Interstates from Longview to Woodland. Backroads flanking I-5 through Elma, Adna, Vader and Castlerock are wonderful. So is Rte 503 through Cougar. Then the infamous Curly Creek Rd. and Wind River Hwy down to Carson. I hit Backwoods Brewing Company in Carson for lunch and had a nice chat with a guy who's got a new business doing live edge wood products. He's been a SUP racer and has done lots of work in composites. We had lots to talk about. I stayed on the WA side of the Columbia and headed down into eastern OR from The Dalles. Fantastic roads through Tygh Valley, and of course the route from Shaniko to Fossil. Got to the campground in early evening and didn't even see a single deer late in the day.

Just east of Tygh Vally, OR. The rolling wheat fields of eastern OR will surprise you with the occasional giant canyon.
