Rain and a hike

It rained for the first time since October here. All day showers, then steady all night. Water accumulated on the roof of my sail barn made from tarps and windsurf masts. Many gallons collected and sagged dangerously low. After using a broom to push it up and drain the water several times at night I stabbed a hole in it with a big knife. Problem solved. Takes a while for things to dry out and to get the tarps on the ground clean again. The sun's out this morning and the wind is picking up. Will put a waterproof bandage on my leg today and head out, hopefully with my GoPro camera. A race is being held tomorrow that starts at the lighthouse across the bay and ends at the beach in front of Baja Joe's. If the wind is typical, most contestants should finish the 12 miles in less than a half an hour. Foilers might do it in 20 minutes.

Cloudy, rainy weather at the campground.

Before it rained, Dave and I hiked the trails through the cacti across the street from the campground. Pics from the hike.

Our Pt. Townsend friends Eric and Alice left LV today. They're headed to Greece where Alice will take high school students on a multi-week trip on a 72' sailboat. She and Eric are both Coast Guard registered captains. Alice was raised on a sailboat. Eric said people where they were staying were sick. I have a cold now and suspect I got it from him. Hmmmm.

Sunset at the campground.
