Swap meet and Dave-isms

It's been windy. Have sailed 3 days in a row. Forecast is good for today. Flags have switched to pointing south instead of north and white caps are increasing. Tomorrow they're calling for 30 mph winds. Am enjoying my new-to-me boards. Real Wind boards have a cult following down here and in the Columbia Gorge. People have already asked if I'm selling them.

My no-longer-in-production, cult-followed, RealWind boards.

Dave-isms

I want to share a few things Dave has said. He's a down to earth kind of guy. So in his folksy vernacular, I give you Dave-isms:

"If you ain't never done nothin wrong, you ain't never done nothin."

"If you don't have anything, you don't have anything to go wrong."

"Still suckin' air. It's a good day."

"If they aren't gonna get you one way, they're gonna get you another."

"It's so weird that everybody loves each other." (in reference to friendly people at the campsite)

"You gotta go downwind to go upwind."

"Somethin's gonna get us."

The big race from the Lighthouse to Baja Joe's happened yesterday. Somehow I missed seeing them even though I was on the water. Apparently a kitefoiler won it, but accidentally went to Playa Central instead of Baja Joe's. Someone on the beach told him where the finish was and he kited down there to finish. Still won though.

Pics below from this morning's swap meet held at the gate to the campground. Mostly kite and wing foil gear, but some older windsurf stuff. A friend Peter was at a table of old gear. I asked him how he's doing. He said "Better if you buy something from me." Cute dogs at the swap. But there are cute dogs everywhere here. One pic shows various black and white hydrofoils. The white ones have a scalloped leading edge. I asked the guy what the concept was. He said they're modeled after Humpback whale fins.

Nobody had internet service here 3 years ago. Now many do. Starlink dishes are becoming more common. Neighbor Cody has one. Says there's a home plan and a mobile plan for van/RV dwellers. His costs somewhere between $100 and $150/mo.

A Starlink antenna.

I lost my good shades while sailing. New cheap shades here and a sun hat.

Some people don't leave much at home when they come down here.
