Had dinner with friends at a nearby restaurant last night. I ordered Menudo, which is a traditional Mexican soup, made with cow's stomach (tripe) in broth with a red chili pepper base. Hominy, lime, onions, and oregano are used to season the broth..
The prior night Kaweh started one of his "construction parties" with safety vests, cones and helmets. I made sushi for quite a few people with yellow tail tuna. Four rolls, about 20 pieces of nigiri and maybe 50 pieces of sashimi. It was all eaten. I've actually had my fill of yellow tail tuna now.
A few days before that I bought 20 clams for Dave and I to split. What a lot of work! Will never do that again. I cut them open while raw, but I think it'd be easier to BBQ them so they open on their own. Delicious though.
The campground's getting emptier by the day. Early tomorrow morning Dave, Kaweh and I will caravan north. Dave goes to Bakersfield. Kaweh has no permanent home and will drive his large camper/pickup to San Diego to visit family. On friend Arnie's advice, I'll go to Las Vegas, then Reno and Susanville, CA, then one of several possible routes further north and west to I-5. My van's mostly packed. After I de-rig my last sail and the sun fully charges my batteries I'll load boards on the roof, pull up the last few tarps on the ground and finish all packing. Big operation.
