WA, OR, ID, MT Motorcycle Trip - June 16-19, 2007

Home | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4

Gloomy skies as we reach the "trailhead", where FS 25 begins at its north end heading into the Gifford Pinchot forest.

The cloud level was below the highest sections of this road, drastically reducing visibility in some places. Spooky.

Dave enjoying one of the many fine curves on FS 88 north of Trout Lake, WA.

Sunny skies in eastern Oregon, between the farming towns of Wasco and Condon.

Past the wind farms near Condon. These things are HUGE.

A quick break at the bottom of a great canyon about 10 miles east of Condon on Rte. 206.

Davis Aprilia Falco with the tall bars.

The winding grade climbing out of the canyon on Rte. 206.

Same again.

Same again.

Dave, somewhere between Eight Mile and Ruggs on Rte. 206 before reaching Heppner.

And me.

The scenic overlook coming in to Ukiah on the Blue Mountain Scenic Byway from Heppner. Big expanses of fields, forests and sky.

Same again.

More great eastern Oregon roads. This time between Ukiah and North Powder.

The eastern half of the stretch between Ukiah and North Powder was new to us on this trip, and proved to be a very worthwhile road, espcially the west half where it ascends to Anderson Lake. The east half had quite a bit of gravel on the pavement. It's probably better later in the summer.

A view through the cockpit of my ST1100 on the way to Anderson Lake.

Dave at an overlook near the summit by Anderson Lake.

The view from the overlook.

We reached Baker City at about 7:30 PM and found a decent room at the Rodeway inn (about $70).
